: Plx Help...

: The K of C is a fraternal organization. It has a product line that contains a wide variety of insurance products: term insurance, whole life insurance, long term care insurance, etc. In addition, it had something that is extremely impoprtant to a new financial services person...prospects.

: While it is true that K of C Agents are captive/career agents, it is also true that they have some of the highest ratings from the rating agencies in the field of insurance. You can count the number of companies that are rated as highly as K of C on two hands.

: I would bet you that Cullen is not truly an independent agent. I would bet that he is using this BB as a front to recruit unsuspecting people to join some pyramid MLM insurance company, ala A. L. Williams/Primerica.

: You will find the K of C to be a strong company and one worthy of your consideration.

: Good Luck.

A.L. Williams does not exist any more and PFS is a captive MLM. Just how do you define an independent agent, Kevin. I define it as an agent or representative that can access many carriers in order to find the best mix of products and services at the best value for a client. An independent agent has the option of being solely a personal producer or he can act as an agency and have producers that he overrides. An independent agent has options a PFS/captive agent does not. I can write with 15 different insurance/ annuity carriers and an even greater number of mutual fund/ variable annuity carriers. If that's not an independent agent, What is?

A captive agent cannot sell anything the company does not carry even if the client would be better served with another company or product. He does not have the option of shopping the market for his clients or training and overriding agents. I personally would rather learn how to prospect from an experienced independent agent than settle for the lower pay of a company that will give me leads. You pay for them one way or another.
