: : I just attended a career briefing with Aflac and it all sounded interesting. I have an interview scheduled for Monday and wanted to ask you all some questions, especially those that may have worked as an independent agent with Aflac.
: : During the briefing, they were vague about initial compensation, am I on my own until I start bringing in accounts? I understand that I have to pay for my own license, what is the typical cost for everything involved in that?
: : Is there anything I should know before going in for the interview? I have never worked in insurance before... any help would be appreciated.
: Hi! I have also been recruited by AFLAC for a sales position and I have been all over the web trying to get some advice. It does sound like a great chance for me but , like you, I thought they were very vague about the commission and training. Please le tme know if you have gotten any good advice. Thanks--th1921@yahoo.com
: Hi, I'm going to be starting with Aflac myself, but probably unlike you two, I am already established as a community leader. I have used top Aflac agents to help me in the past with fundraising and they are great. It has come a time in my career where I can move forward with something like this and i'm excited about it. I will tell you that you need to learn how to sell!! If you want to make top dollar you can with Aflac but just like a lawyer or doctor you need to keep educating yourself in sales. Learn how to network!! it is crucial for your success. Also the pay structure is simple, you should have asked detail questions about it.. My initial conversation with the Regional coordinator lasted over three hours. Of course I've been meeting Ceo's for five years now so i've learned a lot about real business and hard work. Do not expect to succed if you do not work at least 7 hours a day on productive activities. It just will not happen. Oh yeah back to the pay.. it is commission only. You are in business for yourself remember that. Thus if you do not have money set back or perhaps even a second source be ready to really hit the ground running immediately as you will get about a 35percent commission on your sales, which is then about 65 percent upfront, then the other 35 percent spread out over 12 months. If the policy is canceled they will take back that commission.. its always that way in commissioned sales. I hope this helps.
