: Okay. This just happened to me yesterday. I am a recent graduate from UMD. I dont know how primerica got my resume, im guessing they picked it up from monster.com (which i why i will be removing it today). Brett Burks (VP Regional Executive) called me up about a week ago, saying he worked for "citigroup" I was amazed that citigroup was offering me a job because after all, its known to be pretty much the best financial services company in the country. Yesterday, i went in for my interview. First of all, i had to drive out to Sterling, VA (i live in D.C. area) and when we sat down to begin the interview i realized, we were not in an office...we were in a lunchroom of some sort. I figured okay, maybe this is how they do it. whatever. The interview went great, we seemed to be on the same page and agreeing with each other with every issue, even though i still had no idea what job i was applying for (i have a criminal justice and sociology degree.) I agree with "PrimericaSucks" when he/she mentioned the brainwashing techniques these people have. This is not the type of job i am looking for and i am an extremely stubborn person-its very hard to convince me to do something. But for some reason, this guy convinced me to sign up for his company. I had my doubts, that little voice in my head was saying hey! don't do it! And i asked if i could take some time to think about it. He replied "We are looking for ambitious young people to be leaders here" basically telling me sign up now or never. I had many questions about what i was signing. When he answered these questions, at that time, it made sense, and now when i look back to it, he was either twisting my words around or, i guess, pulling something out of his ass and making it sound good. So i ended up signing, and as soon as i left i started to feel sick about what i had just done. I called a friend of the family, who is a lawyer/private investigator and told her what happened. She put both me and Mr. Burks on a conference call from her office and REALLY gave him the 3rd degree. He wouldnt give her a straight answer for any question she asked, including "who do you work for" which he replied, "i represent primerica" This was just an awful experience, i feel stupid and violated, in a way. I cant believe i let this person brainwash me like he did. But, i am taking it as a learning experience. My lawyer had him rip up the application and i ordered a new check card because of the 199 just in case, and everything is fine. Im just trying to put the word out there so that other people my age who are eager to get out into the working world, yet nieve in the ways of the working world, do not make the same mistake i did. Thanks for reading and spread the word.

Matthew:
Thank you for sharing your story about this Bret Burks chump. My son was contacted today by Mr. Burks who left a number for my son to call. However, prior to responding to this baffling phone call, my son Googgled Burk's name and got your story. Your willingness to share your story took guts. Admitting that someone got the best of you is not easy but it sure helped us out! Thanks for sharing!

Sincerely,

Mark
