I see people come and go with AFLAC, and some people have great personalities and you think they'll be a great agent and they wash out in a month or so. Then you'll see people who seem shy or not as socialy skilled and you're sure they don't have a chance, and they end up doing great! I have decided the number one attribute is tenacity, if you are someone who is stubborn and refuses to give up you're in a better position then anyone else. This is not an easy buisiness, and going to 100% commission requires you to be tenacious, and be able to gut it out when it gets lean. They'll say you need to make 25 calls a day, if it gets lean you need to be willing to make as many calls a day as it takes. Second to tenacity is organization, you MUST be organized, this will even be more important when you land accounts and it's time to service them, if you're not organized, as I wasn't when I started, you had better become organized and develop good habits in a hurry. The rest, as far as talking to people and learning how to put people at ease will come naturally in time. Anyone can succeed at this if they stick to the the methods they are taught in training. You have an excellent product line at AFLAC, you have excellent customer support, marketing, and AFLAC pays it's claims, you're job is to educate people to the benefits, help them come claim time, and at all times keep your clients intrests ahead of your own, if you do this you'll be able to work on referals and not have to worry about looking for buisiness, and beating on doors in a few years. Fast talkers may start out well, but honest agents with integity and passion for helping people are the long term winners in this profession.
