I'm hoping to get some feedback from seasoned insurance professionals. I have a BS in Biology, 5 years of lab experience, 5 years in customer service (from before finishing college) and 1 1/2 years of running my own business. I'm having trouble finding a job (I don't want to do lab work again) and I'm looking for a new career. I've been offered a position with Aflac (sales) but after reading the comments here, I'm hesitant. There are numerous opportunities processing claims in my area- if I'm not a strong sales person (and don't like the idea of working for commission only), but more analytical, is this a good direction? Does it pay well? I made about 70K a year at the lab. Can I expect to make about the same processing claims? Or close to it? Are there any other areas of insurance work that might be a viable option? What companies have the best reputations? Thanks for the feedback!
