I would first of all like to say that as a Car Enthusiest I completely understand your pain and your feelings.
But, USAA is right in what they are doing.
I know you don't want to hear that.
But the insurance is based on the NADA value of the car, NOT on what you 'feel' that it's worth.
Any 'additions' to the car are not covered under the insurance policy.
Also, Modification of the car after inspection is now allowed. You should have waited until the claim was 'complete' before you began making your modifications.
It sucks, I know it does. It angers and frustrates you. I know it does.
But you cannot blame USAA for the policy you signed up for. They are following good business guidelines.
They recieved a loss already on your claim and you are not allowed to 'profit' on your car.
What if the car had been stolen, but not recovered? You could have said that you had it gold plated, with diamond incrusted headlights, ruby hubcaps, and platinum frame coverings.
I know that's a stupid statement.. but honestly, where do they draw the line on 'Value' and 'Feelings'... Good business practice has been done here.
Still sucks that you lost your car though:(
