I have had nothing but bad experiences with American General Finance. I recently fell behind on my account because I have had no income since October due to the economic downturn, during which my mother was hospitalized with a live-threatening condition, and subsequently developed pneumonia myself, both of which prevented me from looking for work. The branch manager where my loan is from berated me for being irresponsible, told he was going to have the windows AmGen finance repossessed (ripped from the walls of my house, I guess) during January if I wasn't completely current by tomorrow (we live near Chicago, where it is VERY cold and snowy in winter), said that since I was buying groceries for my two children (both adopted, I'm single) and taking trips to see my mother (one, and we drove), I ought to be paying my bills on time. He was one of the most unprofessional, insulting, obnoxious people I have dealt with in a long time. Avoid American Genral like the plague!!!
