: : "Granted not all of it's income comes from internal consumption but most comes from new recruits and their warm market....... People that join do not pay their upline directly BUT in most offices it is customary for the upline to write the insurance on the new recruit. Therefore, the upline gets the commission. Some offices even insist that the new recruit not write their own business. Don't even mention training reimbursements because 99% of the time they just don't happen."
: : I dont know where you heard that, but let me address it.
: : 1) There is no way for you to know what all offices, or even most offices, at Primerca do unless YOU have travelled to them physically. Therefore, I will start off by saying, you are... shall we say ... talking out of a place on your body that you should not be talking out of.
: : 2) NONE of Primerica's income comes from internal consumption. You said "Granted not all..." This is a correction. Its NONE. 0. Zip. Nada. You pay $199 for your Life Insurance Training Classes (OH NO! They dont pay for your classes! How Evil!) But they reimburse you that $199 after you complete your 6 training sales. In any case, however, that money is paid to the company, NOT YOUR UPLINE, and it is used for YOUR training.
: : 3) IN MY OFFICE (a place I am qualified to talk about because, you know, I've actually been there) everything you've said above is - false.
: : a) If a new person has a license for the business being written, they get the upfront commission, otherwise, the trainer MUST write the business cause, you know, its like illegal to do it without a license.
: : b) The residual comissions (renewals) are transferred to the new person as soon as they get the proper license, again, because it would be illegal otherwise.
: : c) As you are so fond of pointing out, Primerica recruits a lot more people than a traditional firm. Not everyone that joins makes it through the training and licensing program. Why? It has -0- to do with Primerica, and 100% to do with the person quitting. You seem to want people to think that because a "quitter" joins Primerica and then quits, its somehow our fault. If you DO complete your training and licensing, and do your 6 training sales, you are reimbursed - PERIOD. There are no exceptions in my office, and from talking PERSONALLY to people from other offices in my area, there are no exceptions that I know of anywhere else, either.
: : I really dislike people who say patently false things to the public just because they are dissatisfied or have some personal issue with the company. I dont mind if you dont like the company. I do mind when you misrepresent information to others about us, however.
: What's really sad is I used to sound like you until I took my head out of the sand. I was in Primerica so I can tell you about the office I was in and I know exactly what I'm talking about.
: In my office - a place I am qualified to talk about because I was actually there - It was "required" for new recruits to have their upline do their insurance. If you didn't you were made to feel like you were uncoachable. My office put so many stipulations on the training reimbursement that in the year that I was there not one single recruit got any training reimbursement.
: Since I left Primerica I have talked to many professional agents that started with Primerica - didn't like the system Primerica uses - and went on to have very successful careers in financial services. I am one of them. I love the career but not Primerica. Primerica is a good place for a few people but not for everyone.
: Internal consumption, you mean nobody in your office owns Primerica products!!!! Most of our sales were to new recruits. I call that internal consumption. The rest of the sales were to new recruits warm market. Nobody prospected for business any other way except by cold calling and calling resumes off Monster.com. (I know Primerica doesn't allow cold calling and resume calling. I talked to an old associate the other day and it's still being done.) Residuals were never transferred in our office.
:
: And I did visit many Primerica offices before I left and PERSONALLY talked to many RVP's trying to find one that wasn't using misleading and deceptive tactics. They were only a couple of good offices. I decided I did not want to be a captive agent and became an independent. I replace many Primerica products now because a lot of people feel mislead.
: And the reason people don't make it through Primerica's training, etc. definitely has a lot to do with Primerica.
: Take $199 times the number of recruits that never go to licensing class and justify that.
: I don't mind if you don't like the rest of the industry but don't say patently false things about other companies because you have been told by your RVP that the rest of the industry "takes advantage" of the public. There are many good companies and some bad ones also.
