What a disappointing experience. The market is over saturated with agents who bump into each other like Keystone Cops. The managers and so busy in meetings and recruiting they can not provide much assistance. They say they are going to do things and never follow-up. They remind me on the old Vacuum Cleaner or Fuller Brush salesmen.

If you cannot reach your DSC to get a question answered calling the Regional office causes then distress.

The State meetings provide no real guidance and paint a rosy picture no matter what. The head of state danced around on stage like a cartoon charter saying the economy was great and disputed government economic numbers and projections.

Turn over with new Agents runs about 85% annually.

DSC's and RSC's paint a picture of a hard first year and then say thing's get better in the second while veterans normally disagree and say it's a hard 5 years. If a DSC's find out you have had one of theses conversations they say the Veteran is negative.

Leads that come from all the TV commercials and the Web site go directly to the Headquarters by passing the field sales force.
If you request a local agent when calling in from the web page Headquarters will not provide you with a local rep in your town. They handle the sale down there.

When making sales projections on a new customer or a renewal they just set a figure and multiply it by the new employees not taking into account the particular situation.

They want associates to come to Monday morning meetings every week. Then there are Regional Meetings, State Meetings, Training meetings and meetings to have meetings. Driving to all theses meetings and siting in meetings as a 1099 Agent not getting paid. Example Drive time to Meetings

Monday Morning Meetings 30 minutes 20 miles

Regional meetings 38 miles 40 minutes

Training meetings 35 miles 35 minutes

State meeting 125 miles 1 hour 35 minutes.

If you like working as a 1099 independent agent only to be treated like a w-2 hourly employee and go to meetings all the time and not make money Aflac may be for you.

In closing Aflac Policies DO pay well and Aflac pays most of their claims in four business days.
Claims are rarely denied.
