I am getting quotes & benefits for LTC policies from two local agents.
One is quoting & recommending Allianz' "Future Care Select" policy (grand
fathered in Maine until 5/18/2002).
The other is quoting a GE Capital policy.
Being new to LTC, I am learning, but pretty confused. They are providing me
with different & conflicting information. One point of conflict should be
factual & verifiable. the agent quoting Allianz said he has spoken with the
Home Office and was told Allianz has NOT had a rate increase in Maine in the
last 15 years. The other agent refutes that and says they have indeed, and I
could verify that with the Maine State Insurance Bureau. I called them today
and they checked their online records, back through approx. 1997; found rate
applications for 2-3 new Allianz products, but none for existing policies.
It would take them more time & effort to check their paper files back 15
years.
Can you HONESTLY tell me whether in fact Allianz has applied for and
received (or not) rate increases in Maine for any of your LTC policies in
past 15 years? My purpose is not only to assess the stability of &
likelihood of Allianz to raise rates, but more-importantly to check the
validity of information being provided me by local agents, to help determine
which to trust & proceed with.
