For the most part, I agree. : Guys, : I've been reading the messages on this board for the past 4 hours and I have to say a few things about Primerica. I don't want to bash any insurance company as a whole, so my comments refer primarily to Primerica agents operating here in Arizona. In this business, there are MANY flaky agents, not only working for Primerica but also companies like State Farm, Allstate, etc. Keep in mind, my comments refer to MOST PFS agents and products...not ALL. I'm sure there are a few good ones out there..somewhere. It's just that the recruiting and training offered to PFS agents leads to their type of predatory insurance selling. Their management style encourages product based selling techniques, rather than 'solution' based techniques. : Primerica's insurance practices verge on criminal behavior to say nothing of negligence. They encourage churning of insurance policies to the detriment of their clients. The buy term and invest the difference theory has been widely discredited in the industry for some time now, for MOST clients needs at least..particularly in the middle market they purportedly 'help'. They call themselves 'finaical planners' yet few, if any, are CERTIFIED financial planners-- they are insurance agents folks. They generally encourage people to leverage themselves with equities in heavily sales loaded annuities when most can accomplish the same thing with IRA's in no-load mutual funds. They illustrate at 12, when any ethical agent illustrates at 8 to 9%. The agents are usually poorly trained with little to no higher level training given to them. Few carry credentials such as CLU, ChFc, CFP or LUTC; all necessary due to the level of training they require. Most are not members of NAIFA, which is the 'union' for those in the industry. Many PFS agents are employed in other jobs- they are not full time agents-- often which means quality of service is questionable. I've yet to meet a Primerica agent who has been with the company full time for more than 5 years. : In short..avoid working for PFS, unless you plan to push financial products like used cars. Consider a career with a good 'mutual' life insurance company that offers higher level education and operates at a standard of ethical excellence that is respected in the industry.
