I used to work as a claims adjuster for USAA. I was good, but I would say about 75% really stunk. Their entire thrill was to become confrontational and sadly that's how some of them were trained to be. In all of the files that I ever came across at leat 75% had severe errors and based on my experiences having worked there (and my husband as well in another screwed up department - but that's another story) I'd NEVER NEVER let USAA handle my insurance. . not for anything! Training for a claims adjuster lasts only a few weeks now, down from about three months when I started years ago and that wasn't even enough to cover the basics. USAA is really cutting corners and because they're stringing along their current employees and adjusters and nobody really knows what is going to happen to their jobs (will they be let go like half already have been?) morale is VERY low and nobody really cares whether they handle a file correctly or fairly because the general consensus is that all of the san antonio employees will be gone within a matter of months MAYBE years, anyway. Not a good place to be right now.
