As a person that was a broker that at times would use aflac I will tell you the following:
Aflac has products that are, in my opinion, not for most people. You have to look at a real apple to apple comparison to determine the value that Aflac brings to the equation.
The accident disability policy is a good example. If a person has certain job type that exposes them to frequent ER visits (fireman, policeman) it may be a very good thing. You should keep in mind that disability insurance and life insurance are two of the most important types of coverage that is needed for a family and the aflac product is not what most planners wuld suggest that a client purchase.
The company had a flex program available to employers that would allow the aflac products to be offered to the workforce and the flex program was a good thing. It could lower taxes and increase a persons spendable income. Problem is, as I saw it, was that people misunderstood what was being presented to them by the aflac agent force and thought that the products would do things that they would not.
First ask yourself if you have enough life insurance. Then decide what really good disability coverage will cost and then compare what the REAL benefits are from the aflac products.
As for cancer policies, I think they are sold using a persons fear. I think it is better to have life insurance and disability (long and short term) than to have a cancer policy.
I will also tell you that I do own a few shares of aflac stock from my days of writing aflac business.
Hope this helps you.

: : Ann, I'm not looking for feedback from an AFLAC *agent* since you're obviously biased being appointed by AFLAC. Please let people who have AFLAC and are happy/upset with it respond to my question. You're not doing your company any good by being so careless posting on this board against your company's regulations. If anything, you're giving me a good reason not to go with AFLAC if their agents feel the need to populate message boards with their too-cheery pro-AFLAC posts. Please stay out of this particular conversation. Thank you.

: : : AFLAC has the best supplemental insurance products that you can own even if you do not have major medical Insurance!

: Employee,
: If you choose not to go with AFLAC because of my post that is your BUSINESS! I was a consumer of AFLAC products long before I ever becaame an agent! I have filed 3 claims with the company since I became a client! Do you yhink they paid my claims just because I was a agent with the company?
