I have had Prudential Property and Casualty Home Owners Insurance for a number of years. They are canceling my insurance because of what they say is more than 4 claims in 5 years. In reality I have had two. They frankly lied about the claims as shown below.

In 2001 I started to file a claim for a lost watch. The watch was found and I canceled the claim. I received no money. This is still considered a claim by Prudential.

In 2001 I had two trees hit by lightning. At that time I did not file a claim because I did not realize that trees were covered by lightning. The trees were close to my house, were large pines leaning toward my house dying, and I had them cut down.

On May 4, 2002, we had a tornado come through Augusta, Ga. where we live. We had several trees blown down which fell on our fences and our brick patio. I filed a claim. Adjusters came twice. The first to view the trees on the fences and patio and the second to see the patio after I had the tree removed from the patio. This was necessary since the patio damage could not be assessed until the tree was removed from it. Prudential considered this two separate claims one for lightning damage. There was no evidence of lightning damage and the first adjuster commented that we would have gotten more if the trees had been hit by lightning. None of the claims for May 4, 2002, mentioned lightning.

We mentioned to the adjuster that we had recently had two trees removed that were hit by lightning. She told us it was not too late to file a claim. We subsequently did that.

Now Prudential says we had four claims in less than five years. These are:
One claim on 5/3/02 for wind damage,
(they can't even keep the date straight)

One claim on 5/3/02 for lightning damage, ( there was no lightning claim)

One claim on 11/12/01 for lightning damage

One claim on 7/21/01 for physical damage
which was the lost/found damaged
watch that we canceled and never
received a cent in damages.

I recommend that anyone who sells or recommends Home Owners Insurance steer clear of Prudential.
