A word to the wise. If you are considering a career in the Insurance Idustry...Don't be a captive agent. No matter how alluring the promises you are made, 90% are untruths. I worked for Bankers Life and Casualty for 5 years, and was forced to embelish how "easy" it was to be an insurance agent. The deceptive sales tactics you are asked to undertake, the low compentsation, and the hours you are required to work as a 1099 employee, make Bankers and many other Captive agencies, very unattractive careers. Be a broker!! Be independent. Place your loyalty with the client, not an Insurance Company. If you do this, it will be a longer and more difficult struggle. However, the rewards you will reap in the end, far surpass what you "could" do with a captive agency.
