They ARE just like any other insurance company. I have been a member for 16 years myself. They operate just the same and are treating you just as most others would, though most other "A" companies would drop you immediately.
As far as huge expensive building, the headquarters in San Antonio is as large as a city block - big enough?
I am concerned about their treatment of mold claims at the moment and the recent complaints I have seen here (www.usaamold.com ?). I was very concerned to see my policy cut to a $2,500 mold endorsement, when I have never handled a mold related claim which came to less than $10,000.
: I have been a member of USAA for 34 years and over that time have had no more than 5 auto insurance claims totaling about $20,000. Last week I received a call from a Member Service Specialist at USAA General Indemnity Company who informed me that USAA could no longer insure me and that I would have to secure insurance under the USAA General Indeminity Company due to my household driving record (three at fault claims and one citation over the last three years. The citation and one at fault were for the same incident). The cost of my insurance would go up from $1700.00 every six months to $3999.00 every six months. She explained that USAA who has prided itself on providing all of its members with the lowest cost insurnce can no longer do this and is now going to have to operate like every other insurance company, i.e. when you have a claim double your insurance. I am in full agreement that I should be accountable for my driving record and if I abuse the claims process I should pay more. But more than double seems a bit excessive. My calculations indicate that at the rate of $8000.00/year for auto insurance I would pay for all of my claims over the last 34 year in less than 3 years. Where has the $3000.00/year in payments gone that I have paid for the last several decades.
: My major concern is that now USAA is going to operate the same as other insurance companies. The reason I am a member of USAA is because they do not operate like other companies. Perhaps this means the CEO will now receive a hugh salary and bonus or our yearly dividend will be eliminated, or that USAA will start building hugh expensive buildings.
: Are we seeing the dawn of an insurance "ENRON"
: I do not know about you but I'm concerned.
