Like you said, your large local hospital dropped them. Our hospital has been dealing with them on our claims and have advised us they always have trouble getting them to pay legitimate claims. She went on to say United always has some excuse and basically uses stall tactics to avoid paying for their claims for as long as possible. They denied one hospital claim for pneumonia based on it being a pre-existing condition. First, pneumonia has no pre-existing conditions. Second, my wife had not been to a doctor for anything in over a year so they could not possibly link anything to be pre-existing, and third it is a group plan which generally does not have pre-existing condition restrictions. Then they lost our paperwork, then they found it, then they are saying they never received it and are denying based on that. Completely absurd. Large hospitals do not drop insurance companies for no reason. Kudos to yours for having the practical business sense to ditch such a miserable insurance company.
