: I was employed for a large insurance company for 18yrs. I had health insurance thru a group plan(AETNA US Healthcare). I went out on short-term disability which turned into long-term dis. Monthly payments were sent on a regular basis for a 1 yr period. The company then demanded that I apply for Social Security Disability inorder to retain payments or forfeit all income ASAP. I was approved a year ago for SSD. Now SSD pays a portion of my monthly income and the company is supposed to pay the balance. The "GLITCH", the company now says I owe them over $20,000, because I have to repay them all monies given over the long-term dis. period. Since I can not repay, they are withholding the balance of monthly proceeds until 2007 for repayment. I have had to file for bankruptcy and included them as a creditor, but they refuse to release any proceeds because they say that bankruptcy does not have any affect on their repayment rules. After medical and taxes are subtracted, they retain the remainder all except for $10.31, which they send to me monthly out of $350. My question:What are my options, and is there anything I can do about this? I have applied for other gov. assistance with no avail because of the amount of income from SSD. This large insurance company tells me this is part of the Plan Documents that I cannot get a copy of and that I have no recourse for the next 6-7 years when all monies owed should be repaid. Is there no justice for the Disabled when it comes to large insurance companies? If this was made known at the time of enrollment, I would have thought about this type of coverage and the reprocussions. Getting ill and not being employable has become a means of destruction for the working class of people.

: Thank You Much!!!

Ms. Wallace
You need to find out why the company is saying that you need to repay that money. It seems they may have paid out to much in disability income.
