My wife's father past away on september 26 2002.
She was contacted by Her father's company and was told she was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy of a undisclosed amount. She assigned some of the money to the funeral home and the rest was to go to her. She was contacted by the insurance company to get her social security number and birth date to finish the policy. Well we waited and waited and 3 months later found out that they paid her father's girlfriends of 7 months. We were told the her father went in 6 days after his open heart surgery and change the policy to the girlfriend. We have documents from the life insurance company saying that his daughter is the beneficiary and from her fathers work to. but the policy were he supposedly change the bebeficary, they dated it to start on 10-01-02 he died on 09-26-02 and they paid the girlfriend.she is also hold his ashes from his daughter. what can i do? i contacted the department of insurance and the check into it and said the insurance company did every thing right. and he wont talk to us anymore.
