: Mike, : Per your e-mail below, could you elaborate on your experiences with Primerica and why you left as an RVP after only 3 years? You stated that you left for a "better" opportunity. I could conclude one of two things: a. you truly did receive an offer you could not refuse in spite of the great success you were experiencing with Primerica, or b. the Primerica opportunity was only fair and there were many other opportunities available that could surpass being a Primerica RVP. : Under normal circumstances I believe that asking an individual to reveal his income is not polite. However, in this case you were running your own business and so I believe it is fair to ask you to, in the very least, reveal your income as an RVP after 3 years in order to better understand this opportunity. That way any potential recruits can decide for themselves if they have their own "better" opportunities to pursue other than Primerica. : Thanks in advance for you candid response. : BDM : : Sean, : : I was with Primerica for 3 years and became an RVP. Even though I left for a better opportunity elsewhere, I gotta tell you, you've got it all wrong about Primerica. If you'd like to discuss it, I'll be glad to give you true unbiased facts about the innerworkings of the business. : : Mike Raitt My first 12 months in Primerica, I earned $7,000. My 2nd 12 months, I earned $32,000. My 3rd 12 months, I think I earned maybe $18,000. My income decreased in year 3 because I started having mental challenges with the business and started losing focus and motivation. I advanced to RVP so quickly because I focused on recruiting people and helping them get promoted. I had a team of about 85 people when I promoted to RVP. My strategy was to get to RVP as fast as possible because I figured that I could make a living at an RVP's contract level. Since I had a lot of non-retirement cash saved up prior to joining Primerica and because I was also doing a lot of side consulting work & tax returns, I didn't have to worry about selling too much. Anyway, the fact is, that I had I stuck with it longer I should be making at least $70-100k a year now, some 2 1/2 years later. Fortunately for me, however, I did find better opportunities since then. I moved my securities license to Securities America and I'm making 92% of dearler reallowance on securities sales (vs' 40-57% at Primerica). I'm appointed with several life insurance companies now making between 85-100% commissions (vs's 95% at Primerica...representing only 1 product). Lastly, I have aligned myself with a mortgage broker and have access to ton's of lenders to do refi's and purchases. All added together, this year I should make gross over $300,000. All without having to recruit anyone (although I do have 4 people who I've trained and whom I receive some overrides on). So, there you have it. The income growth I believe is slow but eventually a driven person will get there. Out of the intial group of 50 people that joined in the 1st 6 mths together, I believe 1 is making more that $100k now and maybe 3 or 4 are making between 50 to 100k. Other than the slow income growth, however, I believe Primerica is a great place to get started in financial services. It's also a great place to meet lots of quality people that really do care about others and are trying to do the right thing. I have lots of good things to say about the company and the people I was working directly with like Mike Tuttle, Bill Orender, Pat Frankauser, Kim Carver, Criag Morgan and many others. At the end of the day however, I needed to make more money faster and I knew that I could do it. I primarily left PFS because of the money and because I wanted to truely be in the financial services business and not in the recruting business. It was clear, that the higher you go in PFS, the less of a financial expert you become and more of a recruiter & motivator you become. That was not where my long term passion was. So, now I am doing exactly want I want and making lot's of money in the process. Hopefully that answered what you wanted to know.
