Several things you can do, get references and contact the NASD and see if he has any complaints or fines.

A broker might have had a complaint ot two because of a misunderstanding, mistakes happen, and alot of investors blame their brokers when the
market goes down. But if you see fines and multiple complaints, find another advisor.

: From sampling the email, I get the feeling finding trusting financial advisors is like seeking a cancer remedy from a snakeoil salesman. It is STUPID to think it can and will happen.

: Any ideas on how to avoid the scoundrels out to scam us?
