I don't know if this is a good site to reach a lot of agents, so feel free to let me know of better ones. I'm writing to warn agents about some of the trends that are developing that take control away from you and how you run your business. Many insurance companies are trying to go to a centralized system for ordering paramedical exams, blood & urine testing, etc. On the surface it looks good and appears to minimize the amount of work you do. In reality it puts your business in harm's way because their primary objective is to lower their costs by doing sweetheart deals with some paramedical companies. Deals that are beneficial to them, not to you. They're not nearly as concerned about the things that affect your business; quick turn-around times that get you your commissions sooner, competent examiners who do quality work without alienating your clients, etc. When agents lose the freedom to choose who does their client's exams they, historically, see a significant drop in their sales success. Do yourself a favor and do whatever you can to keep control of all aspects of your business. I recommend finding and using examiners that you can deal with directly & personally. The customer service you get from them tends to be much better, they make less mistakes and keep you better informed, they will usually get exams done faster, and they have a vested interest in the success of your business. Their loyalty is to you, not the insurance company. If you have trouble finding these examiners, at least try to keep your options open, even if it's just to be able to choose from your local paramedical companies. Bottom line, you want the choice to be yours.
