Thank you for taking the time to inquire about the HBW program & allowing me to address the issues you bring up (and they are good ones). But, Let me first suggest that I am a fan of Art Williams. Too imagine that one person with a vision, could essentially take-on the largest industry in the world and to have essentially changed the way America Shops for Life insurance is unbelievable. So I would never “bash’’ the Mantel of A.L. Williams.

What is leftover from those early days is now Primerica (PFS). What they are selling is not what Art dreamed about or put forth across the “kitchen table.” It is the result of Corporate America, attempting to coerce the sales force into believing it’s higher priced term plans is right 100% of the time, or that somehow the quality of their products is superior to every other companies term, at that just isn’t right. Is “Buy Term & Invest the Difference” Still a viable solution, in most cases, absolutely! But as you eluded too, not always.

Unfortunately for PFS, The industry didn’t sit still and let PFS wipe them out. (why would they?). They simply created more cost effective term plans and now sell them regularly, via the Internet ,over the phone & through independent marketing organizations like HBW. They responded with “low cost U.L.’s” that allows a consumer to re-create their own “term-like” products for longer durations or take advantage of IRS rules regarding the uses of life insurance.

PFS is not the primary competition for recruits at HBW. Unlike PFS where a person can typically bring in only “greenies” (unlicensed individuals), at HBW you can recruit seasoned veterans, new licensees, or individuals who for some reason “came and left” the industry, or even someone from any other company that simply wanted a change. Many have come to HBW for these reasons.

HBW is an insurance agency; they are not a Broker/Dealer. To offer securities each applicant must first go through a screening process (preliminary application) with the Broker/Dealer and then after approval can submit their contracting forms to become appointed. Any outside activities need to be approved prior too or upon beginning any new venture by the B/D, by amending their U-4 forms.

However, being captive or any screening process is no guarantee that any company can control the activities of a human being. I heard of a circumstance where an individual agent from a captive company allegedly committed murder to marry the client’s wife… So really who knows? We hope that at HBW we bring in a quality of person with the morals and scruples to conduct them professionally. But that’s what most people thought about Kobe.

Finally On Part-Timers; We hope that our reps are full time when they are reaching the upper tier of compensation, but we don’t want to force anyone to quit what might be a vocation they enjoy, teaching, coaching – real estate or alike. With attorneys on retainer to help with the major estate planning issues, HBW looks to maintain professionalism throughout. I hope this helps. Thanks again for your inquiry.
