: This sounds very unusual, unless this person regularly drives your vehicle. In most states, the insurance company can pull his driving record and see if he has any citations, etc, so it really doesn't make much sense. Sorry - hope someone in LA can make more sense of this.

: : The State is Louisiana. My insurer wants to know all kinds of information for a driver who drove my car, with my permission, and was involved in an accident. My car was hit in the rear and the other driver was cited. My driver was not. I reported the accident to my insurer. I gave them all of the information regarding my driver. The other driver's insurer took care of the damage(minor) to my car. Now, they want to know about my driver's driving record, etc. They have threatened not to renew my policy if I do not provided the requested information.

: : : Not sure what you mean by covering individuals who are not family members. Your insurance (normal personal auto policy) would cover anyone who uses your vehicle with your permission. You don't have a choice in that case
