For starters I sincerely doubt your story. You are reciting in some places WORD FOR WORD the sales pitch AFLAC sales associates are taught. You don't pick up those phrases from buying AFLAC, you pick them up from SELLING AFLAC. Geeze, even the figure $22,000. Come on, too many insurance sales people frequent this board to try that move. As policies, yes, they do what they're touted to do. As a company to work for they specialize in playing the numbers game with people's lives. They lie to their sales staff on a daily basis and they know they're doing it, but hey, 99% of AFLAC sales associates don't last a year and by the time they're done "working" for AFLAC they're too poor to hire a lawyer and sue so what does it matter? Bet you're a Regional huh? What State? : : Here is the deal with supplemental insurance with AFLAC. First of all, if you have health insurance that is great. That will definitely let the Doctor who treated you sleep nice and comfy in their warm bed, in their big house, with their nice car in the garage. But let's say that you were off work for 1, 2, 3, 4 weeks??? What happens to you? Does the electricity bill get paid? Mortgage, rent, food on the table, car payment, credit card payment????? : : From someone who has had AFLAC for a few years, I have had two big claims. Both paid me together a little of $22,000. That was money in my pocket. I don't have health insurance. So I had to get with the accounting dept at the hospital. I am paying $20 per month. It would have been nice to have health insurance. But I can tell you one thing, being off work and not getting paid is a hell of a lot harder to deal with than a Dr. Bill. Don't let anyone tell you anything bad about AFLAC. Anything bad is just not true. I have friends that have had the same AFLAC policy for over 20 years. And they are still paying the same premium. Can you get that from your health insurance? Nope... Think of protecting yourself instead of a Doctor or Hospital. They have accounting depts. to help collect their money. I could go on and on. But, don't doubt AFLAC. They are a great company and pay claims really quick. Usually within a week of receiving the documentation from you. Hope this info helped... : : : Clueless: : : : I have heard bad things about them, specifically when there is a claim. But regardless of their reputation, keep in mind AFLAC is supplmental coverage. Do you have a regular disability policy with much greater coverage? A good medical plan? If not, get these taken care of first before SUPPLMENTING with AFLAC. This is a very niche product, so i would proceed with care. : : : This may or may not be the case with your agent. : : : Agent : : : : We had an AFLAC agent come to our office today and offer several plans to us employees. He said that all but one type of coverage is deducted pre-tax from our paychecks, so it will marginally lower our taxes. : : : : Does AFLAC do what it says? Is it a good value for the premium?
