I have a friend that I worked with for twenty years. We had co-pay insurance with the company that covered medical (partly), sick pay and limited long term disability. We could also take out more long term disability through the union (Met Life)that was supposed to kick in when the other long term disability ran out since it was quite limited. This friend has been off for about nine months now and the long term from Met Life was supposed to kick in about three months ago. My friend filed the proper papers with doctors reports that was unable to work, etc.. and not released to go to work so company says no work until released. Met life has denied this request and subsequent appeals for approx. three months now. (Say there is some kind of work this person can do.) How you going to work wdithout a doctors release? Does Met Life think they are smarter than the doctor without even seeing the patient? I have had a nursing home policy for a few years through Met Life that I got when I fell for AARP sales pitch . I am seriously thinking of cancelling this policy for nursing home. If my doctor sent me to a nursing home I would probably die before Met Life would pay up on the policy. I have decided they are not a reputable company at all.
