In sort, it's because of the insurance company they market for. Some insurance companies are over-priced in one area, but are very competitive in others. For example, I know that Zurich Direct is usually one of the cheapest basic TERM providers, while American General (AIG) is usually one of the cheapest TERM w/ Return of Premium rider. My suggestion to you is to shop around before you buy! = )
